New all-granite stone bar a hit in Budiriro

This Friday and Saturday sees the mbira outfit, Mbira dzeNharira, and sungura maestro, Alick Macheso, respectively, visit the new all-granite stone joint for performances that will likely give the residents something to smile about.
Macheso is still riding high with his new album, Zvinoda Kutendwa, and most of his fans from the suburb and neighbouring Glen View and Mufakose and even Glen Norah, will come to see the main man on stage. His previous performance at a club in the suburb was a major crowd puller, and this one promises to follow the same order.
Rarely do big names hold shows in Budiriro, but with the opening of the magnificent new bar and stage, built with granite stone sourced from the site, more bands are surely going to consider the venue as the place to be.
The joint was opened just before Christmas last year by the igwe (Nigerian chief) of local music, Tongai “Dhewa” Moyo, last year at a show that was attended by a huge crowd, some coming from as far as Highfield. And only last Saturday, First Farai and Sugar Sugar were at the Matombo Charehwa Bar though the show was a flop.
The proud owner of the bar, Tsitsi Charehwa, said there were exciting shows lined up during the month. Leonard Zhakata is also billed to perform on the last Friday of this month.
