New sports channel on DStv
Trace Sports is a new-format channel dedicated to revealing intimate behind-the-scenes stories on the world’s favourite sporting heroes and will be exclusive to DStv Premium bouquet subscribers only.
MultiChoice Zimbabwe publicity and public relations manager, Liz Dziva, said the channel “targets sports fans of both genders who are interested in stories about sports legends and rising stars”.
“The channel will give DStv Premium subscribers special access to sports celebrities by letting them into the private lives of champions through exclusive profiles, gossip, news, documentaries and entertainment shows,” she said. “Trace Sports takes a unique view on sports stars, giving subscribers access to new content not currently available on DStv. We are confident that this channel will be a big hit.”
The launch of Trace Sports in Africa facilitates a wide mix of content, launching exactly 100 days before the start of the 2012 London Olympics and likely to heavily feature Olympian sports personalities in the coming weeks and months.
“MultiChoice Africa is committed to constantly enhancing DStv subscribers’ viewing experience and enjoyment and the addition of this new channel is in line with the mission to provide subscribers with so much more,” said Liz.
Alongside features on global sporting icons such as Usain Bolt, Lewis Hamilton and Roger Federer, Trace Sports will also broadcast exclusive content on Africa sporting stars. Programme highlights on the channel include Up Close With, in which the champions get to choose the location of their interview; Entourage, which focuses on the companions or parents of sports celebs, allowing audiences to get to know the champions through the eyes of their inner circles; and Legends, which gives a strong documentation of the real lives of those people who have been able to write their names in gold letters in the history of their sports.
Joelle Kayembe, the African supermodel and new face of Trace and Trace Foundation, will present the signature show In the Name of Good, which depicts the involvement of great champions in causes that are important to them.
