Neymar’s incredible comeback
Brazil head coach Tite feels Neymar proved his ‘extraordinary individual talent’ during his first game since returning from a metatarsal fracture he suffered in February.
Neymar, 25, was a doubt for the 2018 FIFA World Cup after suffering the season-ending injury with Paris Saint-Germain earlier this year.
However, upon his swift return to fitness, the world-record transfer holder made an immediate impact for the Selecao in their warm-up fixture against Croatia.
After coming on as a second-half substitute, the former FC Barcelona star opened the scoring in the 69th minute with a sumptuous piece of individual skill, evading four defenders in the area before smashing the ball into the roof of the net.
“For the first match back I actually expected less from him. I would have been happy with a quieter performance,” Tite said after the game, as quoted by BBC Football.
“What he did was really extraordinary. Neymar is an extraordinary individual talent but the goal he scored came from a move, a build-up, involving the whole team. He’s aware of what they bring to him.”
Neymar has now scored 54 goals and registered 33 assists in 84 caps for Brazil. – kickoff.com
