Observe divine scheme of things

According to the scriptures Satan is the least of our problems if only we know how to handle him. Our greatest problem is lack of spiritual knowledge in dealing with spiritual problems. Hosea 4:6 reads, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Spiritual ignorance renders children of God, not unbelievers, useless, inoperative and ineffective where spiritual things are concerned. For instance if you do not know what the Bible says about marriage, you will be doomed when a marital challenge strikes your home or you will use wrong methods to fix it. Spiritual knowledge gives you the power to solve spiritual problems. Jesus connected error and powerlessness in spiritual things to ignorance of scriptures. “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God” (Matthew 22:29).
A careless attitude towards God’s ways is another major reason why we fail to have our spiritual problems resolved. Today, many believers are increasing in the knowledge of scriptures. But one thing is still lacking; right application of the spiritual knowledge. Many know, quote and recite scriptures but few apply them rightly. This is the careless attitude I am referring to. If you want to experience the power of God you have got to believe and act upon the scriptures you know.
The gospel is the power of God to them that believe enough to act upon what the scriptures say. There are conditions within scriptures that must be fulfilled. And there is divine order in scriptures that must be adhered to.  Ignoring conditions and divine order is a reckless attitude that God will not honour.
A good illustration of all this is given in James 5:13 and following verses. In this account, God speaks to three different groups of believers who are in three different conditions. The first group consists of believers who are in the condition of affliction: Is any among you afflicted? Affliction means adversity or hardship. God is addressing anyone who is in trouble, in need, or facing any challenge except sickness. What is your affliction today? Is it business, material, financial, marital, relational, or spiritual? God is addressing you here.  Then hear God’s solution to your affliction: “let him pray.” God wants you to pray your way out of your affliction. Do not ask a friend or a pastor to pray for you, God says pray for yourself. Now, you feel like personal prayer is not the best solution to your hardship. And that is the reason your conflict will remain unresolved; you do not want to do things God’s way. You prefer to cry instead of praying. You would rather go around seeking sympathy from people about your affliction than pray. God said you pray. The secret is that God knows that when you pray to Him you will change in attitude, in character and in the ways you do things. In other words the answer to your affliction lies in the deepening of your personal relationship to God. Hannah had to pray herself out of her affliction. And the results were that she got what she prayed for plus a deeper knowledge of God which guaranteed more results in future.
The second group God speaks to is in the happy state. Is any merry? These ones are happy; their condition is not adverse so they are told “let him sing psalms.” They are told to express their joy by singing psalms and praises to God. If things are well and you do not express gratitude to God you will soon be filled with gloom and doom.
But if you are happy and content and express it by offering praises to God you will keep Satan and his allies away from you because God inhabits the praises of his people. The secret is that when praises go up to God, blessings fall on us. The mood of praising God draws us nearest to God and furthest from Satan.
The third group to be addressed by God is the sick: Is any sick among you?  Notice that no kind of sickness or disease is left out here. But today in our churches we choose a few sick people to pray for and leave the rest suffering.  If you are sick of any kind of disease whether terminal or mild, God prescribes this solution to you: “let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”
 The solution to your sickness is presented here in clear and plain language; call for pastors to pray a prayer of faith for your healing. But you would rather call your doctor than call your spiritual leader. If you are obedient, get prayed for first and then seek medical help. Others will not call church leaders for prayer because they criticise and despise them.
If you respect your spiritual leaders you get healed when they pray for you.
The anointing will flow for your healing because you respect them but if you harbour grudges against them your sickness may remain. Instead of inventing your own ways of doings things or solving problems, why don’t you be simple and humble and follow the divine order of things? God’s wisdom is better than yours; follow it. You will experience the power, veracity and efficacy of God’s word when you apply it in your life’s situations with child-like faith.
