The lock of hair comes in a gaudy presentation case

AN AUCTION selling a lock of Princess Diana’s hair has shocked the internet.

Despite being dead for nearly two decades, memorabilia relating to the tragic royal is still a big seller — but this latest lot could be one of the most macabre yet.

The seller, David Hamilton, says the strands were part of an inscription she made in a book, two years before her death in 1997.

He claims that she taped the hair alongside the words, “My lock, Diana, 1995.”

As well as this, you also get a faxed signature, which “looks real”.
The listing gushes: “This is an extraordinary opportunity to purchase a piece of Authentic Princess Diana memorabilia.”

The hair even comes with a ten-page “authentication document”, although it’s unclear just what this proves — or how.

Despite the item having expired on eBay with no bids, and since been taken down from Amazon, fans are disgusted.

The British Monarchist Society told the Daily Star: “The sale of modern royal hair makes us feel uneasy and we are sure Princes William and Harry would be disturbed by the auction too: it is, essentially, a body part.” –The Sun
