Pamela Anderson has joined the cast for the big screen remake of Baywatch with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The actor confirmed the news on his Instagram account where he called Anderson’s CJ Parker “one of the most iconic characters of a generation”.

He also posted a photo showing him in his lifeguard costume with his arm around the star.

The announcement comes after Anderson told a magazine last month that she wasn’t a fan of remakes of TV shows.

She told Harpers Bazaar: “Well, they called me and asked me to be in it, but I haven’t decided yet.
“I don’t know. I don’t like remakes of TV shows and I kind of want to leave it as is and be remembered for that. I don’t know if I wanna go on Baywatch and be like, the old lady working at a counter somewhere.”

Anderson, 48, will not be playing Parker again – the role has gone to model and actress Kelly Rohrbach – and it is not known if she will wear the famous red swimsuit.

The Rock wrote: “A pleasure to welcome (as gorgeous as ever) Pamela Anderson to our #BAYWATCH cast.

“We couldn’t have made this movie without you.

“Welcome home. Thrilled you had a blast with us!”

Anderson’s co-star David Hasselhoff also has a cameo in the film which sees Zac Efron play a lifeguard.

The film is due for release on 19 May, 2017. SkyNews
