Roki scares them in the house

This year’s Big Brother Africa edition, which kicked off on Sunday in a glittering two-hour ceremony in South Africa, is named StarGame, and has two big brother houses: Upville, for celebrity VIPs and Downville, for ordinary contestants.
Roki (27) is in Upville with six other celebrity VIPs, namely, DKB from Ghana (26); Prezzo (32), Kenya; Lady May (25), Namibia; Goldie (28), Nigeria; Barbz (34), South Africa; and Mampi (25) from Zambia.
Two other Zimbabweans, Teclar and Maneta, are in Downville where housemates where entered in pairs. All in all 14 pairs are in Downville each vying for the US$300 000 winner’s prize.
The first diary sessions of the premier reality TV show on DStv was held early Monday morning. The general feeling in the air was positive, as the housemates hadn’t had a lot of negative things to say about one another.
However, Roki has already made a name for himself, judging by his behaviour in the house. DKB and Barbz have described him as “weird”, “wrong”, “disturbed” and “scary”.
Barbz even implied that he is smoking something and is therefore not in his right mind. Lady May and Roki had a slight misunderstanding on the first night, but she says they have made peace. The first person to say they like Roki is Lady May, describing him as energetic and talkative. However, she describes his behaviour as being a clown and comedian.
In his first diary session, Roki claimed that the housemates are being trivial and do not make an effort to converse with each other. While the other housemates believe that Roki is “high”, Roki thinks the others are all high. Even though he and Lady May had an altercation, Roki thinks that she is hot and sensual.
When asked about his weird ways, Roki revealed he had a more sensitive side to himself. Roki believes that he is misunderstood and feels very intimidated. He says the reason why he seems crazy is because he has a problem with his emotions. All he wants is to be understood and listened to.
The pomp and fanfare as the housemates entered the house was soon to die down as it was announced that nomination would be done randomly and that it would be done that evening. As everyone was still gasping for breath, Tanzania was nominated for eviction; and so was Zimbabwe. Eviction will be done on Sunday at 8pm.
As it stands, it is unknown how the two houses will play out and how the eviction is going to go – whether the celebrity VIPs are also contesting or not and how many contestants will be sent home on each eviction.
Meanwhile, in a sudden twist of events on Tuesday, Angola’s Esperanca volunteered to exit StarGame due to personal issues. As the Downville housemates were chilling in the garden, Biggie called Esperanca into the diary room and asked her what was on her mind.
Esperanca didn’t hesitate to mention that she had made up her mind on this decision and had even discussed it with the head of house, Keitta.
However, Biggie gave Esperanca 24 hours to rethink her decision and suggested that she gets the other housemates’ views on her decision.
StarGame is headline sponsored by Coca-Cola and produced for M-Net’s AfricaMagic channel by Endemol South Africa. The reality show can be watched 24/7 on AfricaMagic Entertainment and DStv channel 198.
