RTG leading the way in hospitality industry

RAINBOW  Tourism Group’s (RTG) flagship premier 5 – star hotel; the Rainbow Towers Hotel and Conference is undergoing a US$3-million-dollar facelift of 183 of its guest rooms and suites. (The other 122 guest rooms were refurbished over the past two years).

The project will include the installation of two high-tech guest elevators to complement the modernisation program. The magnitude of the refurbishment project will require the temporary closure of the hotel’s guest rooms and hotel side conference facilities from 17 December 2019 to 31 January 2020 to make way for the major works on the rooms. However, all food outlets, restaurants and the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) will remain open for business throughout this period.

The new look, at par with global standards

It keeps getting better

RTG Operations Director Tichaona Hwingwiri advised that the timing for the refurbishment was strategic in that this is the low season for city hotels as most activities are for business and NGOs which close down over the festive season. During this time occupancies are generally low with more focus placed on selling the food & beverage offerings.

The new rooms and suites will embody an ultra-modern contemporary theme. Part of the works will necessitate the reconstruction of the guest room interior space such as the construction of bulk heads with down lights to enhance the overall room lighting and general ambience. These modifications capture the essence of modern luxury living and functionality. At 38m2 for standard rooms, the Rainbow Towers Hotel & Conference Centre (RTHCC) guest rooms are already the largest in Harare. Luxury in the hospitality industry is about space, opulence and quality. The new rooms will definitely encapsulate all these elements.

A colour palette of earth tone colours which includes greys and beige tones with hues of blue all create a warm, nature-friendly atmosphere that has a calming and soothing effect to ensure that guests can unwind, have a peaceful and restful time in the privacy of their rooms. The contemporary theme and colours will extend to the wall paper which launches texture and contrast to the space, whilst the introduction of large Afrocentric artwork that personifies our Zimbabwean African heritage and people.

The contemporary look and feel will be complemented by luxurious ultra-modern furniture pieces in varying depth and texture that matches the colour palette. All rooms will have a comfortable easy chair for guests to relax whilst enjoying a cup of coffee or one’s favourite night cap at the end of a busy day. RTHCC is predominantly a business hotel catering for the needs of the business traveller. The new work station   features a comfortable work chair and desk that not only meets all ergonomic expectations but is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

In line with world-wide hospitality trends all the standard rooms will no longer have a bathtub but will be fitted with a spacious shower for an enhanced bathroom experience.
