The seven Heads of State who slept at RTG translates to 45% of the total number of the blocs’ leader or over 65% of those who attended the events. President Emmerson Mnangagwa assumed the chairmanship of the regional bloc, taking over from Angolan leader João Lourenço.

The group’s courteous treatment has made customers walking advertisement of their products.
The extensive refurbishment project has significantly enhanced the hotel’s guest rooms, elevators, and the renowned Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
This comprehensive upgrade reaffirms their commitment to offering unparalleled comfort, convenience, and world-class facilities to its guests.
An important milestone is the new look HICC, the first time since the hotel was built in 1985. For the record, the HICC is the largest conferencing facility in Southern Africa.
This milestone marks a new era for the hotel, which has long been a symbol of excellence in hospitality in Zimbabwe and across the region.
The project was undertaken with a focus on blending contemporary design elements with the rich cultural heritage of Zimbabwe, ensuring that Rainbow Towers Hotel continues to offer a unique and memorable experience to its guests.
Highlights of the Refurbishment Include:
The hotel now has a total of 10 premium suites which include one presidential suite. They also have 18 executive suites.
The configuration of the rooms is as follows: Diplomatic suite – two bedrooms (ensuite), one lounge, one dining rooms, one kitchenette and one visitors rush room and bathroom.
Executive suite: One bedroom, one lounge and one visitors bathroom.
Refashioning of the Guest Rooms: Each guest room has been meticulously rebuilt and reconstructed, featuring brand-new fittings, ultra-modern contemporary décor, and thoughtful design tailored for business travellers’.
The redesigned rooms and suites offer a sleek, uncluttered environment, with enhanced lighting, ambient mood settings, and luxurious finishes. A standout feature is the creation of six new ultra-modern diplomatic suites, expanding the hotel’s luxury offering.
The refashioning also included the remaining 48 standard rooms. These suites, crafted by consolidating four standard rooms, include a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, a dining room, a kitchenette, a lounge, a separate guest toilet, and an additional interleading bedroom.
With 38m² standard rooms, Rainbow Towers Hotel now boasts the largest guest rooms in Harare, en-capsulating space, opulence, and quality. Guests can now enjoy world-class contemporary décor blend-ed with our uniquely vibrant spirit of Zimbabwe.
The design concept was based on the creation of slick rooms, tonal with punches of colour, simple and uncluttered. The new rooms and suites embody an ultra-modern contemporary theme. Part of the works necessitated the reconstruction of the guest room interior space such as the construction of bulk heads with down lights to enhance the overall room lighting, the general ambience and mood.
These modifications capture the essence of modern luxury living and functionality. Of significance was the creation of six ultra-modern suites, aptly called the diplomatic suites, which exude the ultimate luxury, bringing to a total of 10 premium suites.
The diplomatic suites were created by consolidating four standard rooms to create each suite. The diplomatic suites comprise of the main bedroom with spacious ensuite, a dining room, a kitchenette, a lounge, separate guest toilet and an additional inter-leading bedroom.
At 38m2 for standard rooms, the Rainbow Towers Hotel & Conference Centre (RTHCC) guest rooms are already the largest in Harare. Luxury in the hospitality industry is about space, opulence and quality. The new rooms encapsulate all these elements.
A colour palette of earth tone colours which includes greys and beige tones with hues of blue all create a warm, nature-friendly atmosphere that has a calming and soothing effect to ensure that guests can un-wind, have a peaceful and restful time in the privacy of their rooms.
The contemporary theme and colours extend to the wall paper which launches texture and contrast to the space, whilst the introduction of large Afrocentric artwork personifies our Zimbabwean African heritage and people.
The contemporary look and feel is complemented by luxurious ultra-modern furniture pieces in varying depth and texture that matches the colour palette. All rooms have a comfortable easy chair for guests to relax whilst enjoying a cup of coffee or one’s favourite night cap at the end of a busy day. RTHCC is pre-dominantly a business hotel catering for the needs of the business traveller.
The new work station features a comfortable work chair and desk that not only meets all ergonomic expectations but is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. In line with world-wide hospitality trends, all the standard rooms no longer have a bathtub but are fitted with a spacious modern shower for an en-hanced bath experience.
In 2020 183 rooms were refurbished, whilst the balance were completed in July 2024. a State-of-the-Art Elevators: As part of the refurbishment, the hotel has replaced and modernized all elevators to en-sure faster, smoother, and more reliable service. The new elevators are equipped with the latest tech-nology, enhancing the overall guest experience and ensuring seamless access to all floors. A key feature is the access control system which gives guest access only to the booked floor.
This means guest can stay rest assured of enhanced security and safety. a Revitalized Harare International Conference Centre (HICC): The HICC, is the only Amphitheatre style conference centre in Southern Africa with a seating capacity of 4500.
It is a key venue for conferences, exhibitions, and events in Zimbabwe, where several historical events have taken place. The HICC has undergone a significant transformation. The refurbishment included the replacement of all the seats, with modern comfortable seats which have both 3-pin and usb charging ports making conferencing seamless and efficient. All the carpets were also replaced.
With these upgrades, the HICC is now better equipped than ever to host international, regional and local mega events with style and comfort.
