Salah deserve player of the year- Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne Player of the Year debate

Mohamed Salah deserve to be player of the year .

LIVERPOOL head coach Jurgen Klopp says forward Mohamed Salah ‘100 percent’ deserves to win the Player of the Year award ahead of their UEFA Champions League showdown with his main rival for the honour on Wednesday.

Liverpool face off against Premier League leaders Manchester City in the last-eight of the Champions League and the two standout players of the English top-flight season will look to further enhance their credentials for individual accolades.

Salah scored his 37th goal of the season across all competitions in the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace over the weekend but face major competition for the award from influential City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.

“I think Mo would deserve it 100 percent,” Klopp told the club’s official website. “As his manager, I’d say: ‘Come on, prove it by playing at this level for the rest of the season.’ That’s how it is.

“Both players have played an outstanding season with obvious highlights, scoring goals and creating chances — which is what everyone wants to see.

“I am happy that I don’t have to make this decision. Yes, Mo would deserve it. But if I said now that Kevin De Bruyne should have no chance, I’d be lying.

“He’s a fantastic player and City will be champions, so he has a trophy. Maybe we can at least win the other one.” kickoff.com
