Scandinavian clubs interested in Ovidy Karuru
AMAZULU winger Ovidy Karuru may leave the club before the new season starts as he is wanted by two unnamed clubs in Scandinavia.
The former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder joined Usuthu in the January transfer window, six months after leaving AmaKhosi at the end of 2015/16 season.
He was part of the massive clear-out at Naturena which included Sula Matovu, Morgan Gould, Philani Cele, Bongani Ndulula, Ivan Bukenya, Shandukani Mulovhedzi, Sboniso Gaxa and Levy Mokgothu.
The 28-year-old, who has already been contacted by the overseas outfits, previously played in France for Boulogne and Belgium side OH Leuven before signing for Chiefs prior to the 2014/15 season.
He joined the Durban-based outfit on a one and a half year deal brokered by the his agent, the late Edzai Kasinauyo.
According to an insider closed to this website, Karuru is wanted by teams in Denmark and Sweden but they’ve only spoken to the player and have not engaged the club as yet.
“Ovidy, there’s some interest in him growing in Sweden and Denmark. Unfortunately I can’t give out names but they have made an offer to the player and they intend on speaking to his club,” a source tells KickOff.com.
Karuru, who will be part of Zimbabwe’s national team to participate in the Cosafa Castle Cup that is starting on the 25th June in Rusternburg, started 10 out of 13 league matches for Joey Antipas’ side and scored twice as Usuhtu finished fifth in the NFD table. – Kickoff.com
