Stars that lit NAMA night
This year’s NAMA awards — in their 10th year now and held at the Rainbow 7 Arts Theatre in Harare, were celebrated under the theme Celebrating a Decade of Excellence and Creativity.
The firebrand artiste scooped the Outstanding Album Award for his Igofigo and also got the People’s Choice Award, a recognition that goes a long way to show that he is yet to scale to much dizzier heights.
Another shining star on the night was Christie Clayton, a dancer with the National Ballet, who also walked away with two trophies of excellence.
She was voted Outstanding Female Dancer under the Dance Awards. She also took with her the People’s Choice Award for Dance.
But also it was a big night for Bulawayo-based Siyaya Arts when they walked away with two awards — Outstanding Male Dancer and Outstanding Dance Group.
A fourth big winner of the night was the Rooftop Promotions play, actress Eunice Tava’s directorial debut, Election Day. The production’s Teddy Mangava took home the Outstanding Actor award while the play was overally voted the Outstanding Theatrical Production. It was Tava’s second year in a row to take a NAMA home.
