Michael Kariati

BRIDGET Stidolph has been granted a training licence by the National Horse Racing Association. She becomes the ninth trainer at Borrowdale Race Course, joining champion trainer, Lisa Harris, Kirk Swanson, Ghokan Terzi and Amy Bronkhors.
Others are Connie Spies, Jannie Blignaut, Alyson Wright, and Sebastien D’Aquino.

Stidolph started her career as an apprentice under the Harris racing stable in 2006 before acting as assistant to champion trainer (Lisa) Harris. During her stint at the stable, Stidolph got the chance to train Lucky Sam who won the Republic Cup and the Bloodstock South Africa last season.
She also trained Casey’s Dance who won the Triple Tiara as a three- year old.

Harris told the Financial Gazette Sport that Stidolph had been a hardworking assistant.
To be granted a licence, one has to work under a licensed trainer for six months before writing an examination for a stable employee license.
This is followed by 30 months as a stable employee and another 30 months as an assistant trainer before one can then write an examination for a trainer’s license.

Two weeks ago, Stidolph began her new life as a trainer at Borrowdale Race Course.
Interestingly, she easily reached her first training victory on debut with Print the Pound clinching the Fillies Classic title.
