Success in Stilettos turns one year, maintains strategic space
The Success in Stilettos (SiS) Seminar Series is today taking yet again the city by storm as they conduct another seminar for women interested in developing their leadership insights and capacities. Exactly same time last year, the series offered its first seminar. Momentum is still high and the forthcoming seminar is geared to live up to expectations.
“We are expecting another insight-filled, wisdom-inspired experience and knowledge-based seminar. We offer no less. We guarantee that at our seminars each and every participant gets new leadership insights, no matter what. You walk out of there inspired, invigorated, capacitated and spurred into action to do more and be more for yourself and your company. That is a promise, and if that isn’t growth, then I don’t know what is,” says Maggie Mzumara, Founder and Strategic Co-ordinator for the SiS seminars.
Speaker and topic line-up for the seminar is as follows: Marah Hativagone, speaking on how a woman can catapult herself to board level. How can a woman prepare herself for the board and develop herself to be ‘board material’ and if she already sits on the board how can she solidify herself so she can continue to hold her own effectively. A veteran executive, managing director of Codchem, chairperson of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and a member of other boards, Hativagone is expected to share ‘tried and tested’ strategies, techniques and tactics.
Angeline Mundangepfupfu, hu-man resources executive at CABS, will administer a psychometric assessment for every seminar participant on their conflict resolution capacity as well as speak on how to develop effective conflict resolution skills.
“We are very excited about this assessment, because every participant will be able to walk out of the seminar knowing where they stand regarding how they resolve conflicts in their work environment with subordinates and peers; and even at home,” Mzumara said.
Barclays Bank of Zimbabwe Managing Director George Guvam-atanga will give insights on how the ‘lost decade’ and the shifty and sometimes shady means of survival the general populace engaged in — ‘burning’ and what not — has impacted on the workforce and organisational culture; and what a leader leading such a people needs to know and do to manage in such an predicament.
It has been a year since the SiS seminar series was founded and a year and four seminars later the series has drawn 230 participants from 64 organisations and companies.
“We are very excited by the growth and believe our brand is here to stay. When women’s leadership is enhanced everybody benefits. I mean look there is space and need for women’s leadership. Women leadership speaks to current times and the needs presenting in today’s world. There is a lot to be benefitted from women leadership in today’s workplace and marketplace,” Mzumara said.
“Support from the corporate sector has been very encouraging. We are grateful for that and we look forward to more such support,” said Mzumara. This coming seminar has been supported by Old Mutual, Nyaradzo Funeral Services, the mother company Expert Insight Consultancy with The Financial Gazette as the official media partner. — Own Correspondent.
