The Spice Girls end their reunion tour after selling out three nights at Wembley

The original girl power group The Spice Girls have ended their long-awaited reunion tour at Wembley Stadium, after a sell-out run in the capital.

The group performed their hits including Wannabe, their 1996 debut single, and Spice Up Your Life in front of 70,000 people in the stadium.

The group brought their mothers and children on to the stage as they closed a sell-out run at Britain’s biggest stadium.

Sporty, Ginger, Baby and Scary Spice ended their run by bringing their children and mothers on stage with them, with Geri Horner, best known as Ginger Spice, joking that they are the three generations of Spice Girls.

Horner also apologised to her bandmates for leaving the group in 1998 – just two years before the group split.

She told the crowds: “I’m sorry. I’m sorry I left. I was just being a brat. I want to say it’s just so good to be back with the girls that I love.”

There was also an impromptu rendition of Adele’s Someone Like You, after the band revealed that the Grammy award-winning singer was somewhere in the crowd.

Adele’s last Wembley show in 2017 was cancelled on doctors’ advice after she damaged her vocal cords.

After the show, Horner shared an emotional message on her Instagram page, where she thanked the cast and crew of the tour.

She said: “So we’re done. It’s done.

“Thirteen stadiums, almost 700,000 people with three amazing women I’ve shared that stage with.

“I want to say thank you to Melanie, Melanie and Emma and everybody who showed up for us. It has been something that I will never ever forget. Thank you so much. Big love from the Spice World.”

The group began their tour in May in Dublin, and went on to perform in Cardiff, Manchester, Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh and Bristol.

The show on Saturday night, as with the rest of the tour, did not include original Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, or Posh Spice, although speculation was rife with rumours that she may have surprised fans at the group’s final London performance.

Earlier in the day, Mel C, or Sporty Spice, posted a photo of the group in their early days, with a message to Mrs Beckham, telling her she was missed.

Mel B, better known as Scary Spice, said after the gig that the Wembley shows were one of the most important moments of her life.

She also announced that the group would be heading Down Under to take the tour to Australia later in the year. – news.sky.com
