THE countdown to the Top Companies Survey Awards set for this month continues, with preparations in full swing for the prestigious event that recognises top-performing companies in the country.

The annual event, organised by The Financial Gazette in partnership with Old Mutual, involves a rigorous adjudication process by judges and analysts to identify the top-performing companies listed on the local bourses.

Organisers are currently finalising arrangements for this prestigious event, which celebrates the country’s top-performing businesses.
The Financial Gazette’s general manager sales and marketing, Shingirai Chirikuutsi, said all was in order for the event.
“We are thrilled with the progress that we are making to ensure that this year’s edition lives up to its billing. As you know this is the country’s premier business event and it can only be the best experience,” he said.
“Our judges have done a great job to ensure that the deserving winners will be acknowledged for their exemplary leadership in this ever-changing operating environment.”
Last year’s winners included Delta Corporation, Innscor Africa, ZB Reinsurance, Mashonaland Holdings and Caledonia Mining Corporation.
The model used to honour the top companies on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange and Victoria Falls Stock Exchange places emphasis on consistent and positive financial performance, maintaining a healthy financial position and superior total returns to investors or shareholders.
The judging criteria keep an eye on the companies’ corporate governance practices, including providing adequate disclosure and building sustainable partnerships with clients, communities, the government and other strategic partners.
The insurance industry category criteria place emphasis on assessing the insurer’s loss ratio, expense ratio, commission ratio and ceding ratio.
The Top Companies Survey, established in 1980, has evolved into a key indicator of company performance in Zimbabwe’s banking, insurance, and life assurance sectors for both local and international investors.
