‘Unhappy’ Bieber Cancels Fan Meet And Greets
Justin Bieber has cancelled his fan meet and greets because he says the pressure of meeting people’s expectations is making him depressed.
The Canadian pop star is currently on his Purpose world tour where he has been inviting fans backstage to meet him.
However, in an Instagram post the 22-year-old admitted that while he likes meeting “incredible people” he ends up “feeling so drained and unhappy”.
Bieber’s agent Scooter Braun said the meet and greets had also been cancelled for the singer’s own safety.
The company behind the backstage experiences said the face-to-face encounter had been removed from the $925 package for security reasons.
Refunds are being offered to people who have paid for the experience.
Bieber’s Instagram post continued: “Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression .
“The pressure of meeting people’s expectations of what I’m supposed to be is so much for me to handle and a lot on my shoulders.
“Never want to disappoint but I feel I would rather give you guys the show and my albums as promised. Can’t tell you how sorry I am, and wish it wasn’t so hard on me.. And I want to stay in the healthy mindset I’m in to give you the best show you have ever seen :)”
Bieber’s tour began in Seattle on 9 March and is due to end in London on 29 November.
He is due to perform at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday night before moving on to Las Vegas. SkyNews.com
