Waiting for appointed time

Have you ever forced your way into an important position and felt very uneasy and out of place? Well, it happens every time you force things instead of letting them eventuate. The most important thing to remember when we are walking with God is to wait for God’s appointed time. We mess up things if we are not patient. God pays particular attention to the timing of things. If we do good things outside God’s timing, they cease to be good. Time is of the essence to God. Running ahead of God in doing things is wrong. Lagging behind is wrong too. But moving at His bidding is the right thing to do if we are to successfully walk with God.
The great man of God, Kenneth  Hagin, learnt a very valuable lesson in his walk with God that is worth following.
God instructed him to wait and follow behind than to run ahead and hit a brick wall. One of the failures of King Saul was in connection with impatience. He failed to wait for the priest Samuel to come and offer a much needed sacrifice in a critical moment. He usurped the role of the priest and offered a sacrifice but that very act of impatience marked the beginning of his demotion.
One area in which most Christians express a shocking degree of impatience has to do with promotion at the workplace, in church and in social settings. Very few of us are content to serve in the second place or as followers. We want to be in the limelight and we want to be there right now.
However, the teaching of the Scripture is patience. Waiting is a key word in the journey of spiritual life. Even in natural life, there is a need to accept to wait at the reception or to be put on hold.  Life consists of both motion and waiting. If you do not learn to be patient you will end up being a patient.
Can you look back in your life and count the many things you have messed up just because you could not wait for the right time to come? God’s time is the right time. If we understood that God is the one who changes the times and the seasons and also the judge who puts down one and sets up another we would graciously and patiently wait for our time of promotion. When one deeply knows that promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west nor from the south he or she will trust God to create opportunities for their promotion without hurting a hair in anyone’s head. If everything is beautiful in its time then timing is everything. Your time to be on top or to shine will come but do not force it to come now because you may not be prepared for it.
Use the time you are in obscurity or under the shadow of someone greater than you to prepare yourself for promotion. When the promotion eventually comes you will be glad you used the time of waiting to fully prepare yourself. Remember, patience is bitter but its fruit is always sweet.
Are you currently serving under a cruel and jealous leader? If yes, then be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove. The serpent’s wisdom enables it to escape danger by making swift and careful movements.  The dove, on the other hand, means no harm to anyone. It is a symbol of peace, poise and purity. When you combine these two qualities, the wisdom of a serpent and the harmlessness of a dove, you become the master of every situation and a smart winner.
When you learn to always wait for your appointed time God will reward your patience and grace with smart success. Smart success happens when you win a promotion without stepping on another’s toes.
