Call upon the Christ of Cana
The invitation of Jesus and his disciples to the marriage ceremony at Cana of Galilee was the wisest decision the couple had made for when their supplies ran out He turned water into wine to complete their joy. An event which was most likely to have ended in shame eventually ended on a positive and glad note as the best wine was served at last. Jesus can do the same in your life. He can turn your looming shame into your fame. If you have a sense of insufficiency in your life then you are the best candidate to invite Christ of Cana. Begin now to announce to those around you that your best days are yet to come for your insufficiency is the certain forerunner of God’s sufficiency.
Do not be ashamed of lack when the Social Christ is present for where He comes there is at first a disconcerting sense of insufficiency and need. He ever makes this consciousness of need the opportunity of showing his power and glory. He said that as a physician he was not coming to those who were well but to the sick. The self-sufficient have no need of him but the poor and needy constitute his field of service. For unto such his power to multiply and increase the little into abundance is revealed. Here is the principle governing all of Christ’s gifts: He always gives the best last. In sharp contrast, all of the world’s pleasures are keenest at the beginning and worst at last. Sin gives first the brightness and pleasure, good fellowship and self-gratification but afterward bitter consequence, relentless memory and unending remorse. However, Christ ‘giveth not as the world giveth’ for he leads from grace to grace, strength to strength, faith to faith and from glory to glory. With Christ today is better than yesterday, and tomorrow is always better than today.
