Mighty manifestations of the Holy Spirit
In answer to enquiries from readers, let me clarify that speaking in tongues is supernaturally speaking a heavenly language unk-nown to, and unlearnt by, you the speaker.
In some cases the tongue you speak may be a native language somewhere on earth as shown in Acts 2:5-7 where foreigners heard Spirit-filled Galileans speaking in their native languages. Also, scriptures prove beyond reasonable doubt that the initial evidence of being actively filled with the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues, but if you are truly born-again and you are not speaking in tongues, all it means is that the Holy Spirit is somehow dormant in you in that aspect.
You just need to add to your burning desire to speak proper teaching, patience, and explanation on hindrances and you will speak sooner or later.
However, the mission of the Holy Spirit in your life is not for you to just feel good. It is not for mere speaking in tongues either.
Speaking in tongues is the initial evidence and a private way of your communicating with God, so you need not set up camp there, but move on to mighty manifestations of the Holy Spirit and His pivotal role in sanctification.
Now the first thing to understand before the Spirit manifests Himself in and through you is that you are His temple.
You are His body, host, house, residence, dwelling place or His clothing. He has His Being in you; He moves in you and speaks in you.
In other words, be conscious that you carry God within you. This is very important and you need this consciousness all the times. If you accept that He dwells in you and that He wants to speak, think, act through you — then you must give Him room to express Himself freely in and through you. Manifestation is the revealing in outward ways of the presence of the hidden Spirit within you.
The Holy Spirit manifests Himself in countless ways depending on the suppleness and pliability of the host. If you allow Him complete freedom, He will express Himself fully and freely. He is a gentleman and will express Himself only to the extent you allow Him.
In the opening scripture above Zechariah was a good host of the Spirit because the scripture says that the Spirit took possession of Him.
The original Hebrew words used for the phrase “took possession of” could actually be translated to mean “clothe himself with”.
Thus the Holy Spirit clothed Himself with Zechariah. In other words the body of Zechariah was used by the Holy Spirit as a garment that He put on Himself.
The man Zechariah was completely replaced by the Holy Spirit. So whatever was said and done thereafter was not the doing of Zechariah but of the Holy Spirit Himself. And when the Holy Spirit is given such freedom, only expect fireworks, mighty manifestations because God will be calling the shots.
The common will be turned into the uncommon, the usual into the unusual, the ordinary into the extraordinary, and the natural into the supernatural.
This spiritual transformation will result in the performance of mighty works and the conversion of many sinners unto Christ but remember it all begins by receiving the Holy Spirit and allowing Him freedom of expression.
