Master the basics: A flawless complexion

Forget all the rules on concealer: green covers red, yellow covers red and brown, orange covers blue. This doesn’t seem simple.
Concealers which match the skin tone are formulated with a great deal of pigment so a thin application will actually conceal or hide the various undertones.
This makes the choice and application much easier and the result is an illumination which creates a flawless finish. Simply pick the shade that best matches the skin tone at the lower eyelid.
Application tip: Apply concealer with a small brush. This way you can apply the product in the same exact size and shape necessary. If you use your finger, the size of the area you cover is dependent on the size of your finger. Under the eyes where discoloration is prominent.
Between the inner eye and the nose often shows discoloration that can pinch the nose area, making one look tired, and can give the appearance of changing the eyelid shape.
At the outer eye, where the upper and lower lid joins, there is often a dark line of discoloration that draws down that can be concealed. You can also apply concealer to cover broken blood vessels and skin irregularities.
Translucent powders are designed to “set” makeup. The powder absorbs the oil or moisture in the make-up to create a dry surface on the skin. Translucent powders should not add colour to your makeup. (powders that incorporate foundations are used for coverage as a foundation and are not recommended for setting make-up)
Application tip: A powder puff or large brush may be used to apply the powder as well as brush away any excess.
Creating a natural, rosy radiance
When applying blush, you want the colour to look soft and natural, as if it comes from within.
Tips on how to put
 on makeup
1. Tap or lightly blow on the applicator brush to remove any excess blush before applying to prevent a harsh and uneven application.
2. Apply your blush on the apple of the cheek and carefully blend towards your natural hairline.
3. If you have two shades, apply the darker one on the apple of the cheek first, then use the lighter shade to highlight. Blend well so there is no visible line between colors.
4. Highlight your temples, forehead and chin.
Tip: To know “where to glow” bend over for 30 seconds, then slowly stand up. Where your cheeks are flushed is where you are meant to blush. Apply your blush there and it will be naturally rosy every time.
Tip: Cheek colour should be used to enhance your complexion, not to change your natural skin tone. Use sparingly for daytime, then add more or a deeper shade for a more dramatic nighttime effect. For special occasions, dust a lightly frosted powder over your cheekbones for a subtle but alluring glow.
Tip: Make sure to blend your blush into your foundation well or it will tend to look unnatural and add the appearance of 5 years to your looks.
Makeup application can be a daunting but easy habit to get into and best of all as you apply your own each day you will get better and better. And finally, regularly moisturise your face and body, as this will prime your skin for the make-up you apply! We hope this benefits you all. Here is wishing you all a good skin day every day with Clarins whatever your needs.
