Love’s in the air, and Zimbos are on the ball

Lovers pour their hearts out and make their sweethearts feel special in the most romantic way. You can celebrate love — the most powerful emotion on earth — by buying a sizzling present adorned in the colour of love, red, happily laced with white. And to celebrate this special day, the most common items in order include flowers, preferably red roses, trendy shirts, ties, blouses, skirts, shoes, perfume — the list is just too long.
To spice the day up, some may choose to take their loved ones for an outing, especially a candle-lit dinner.
But the touchiest of presents for the ladies is certainly lingerie. It is the lingerie that makes the women go topsy-turvy about their love life. In other words, it is just romantic to buy lingerie for your woman.
To show you just how, Impeccable Modeling Agency is hosting an Exclusive Valentine’s Lingerie Expose this Sunday at the Phat Sams Arts Lounge, Westgate Mall in Harare.
Impeccable is enjoying a place in the sun after it helped Tafadzwa Mugazimbi clinch the second runner-up position in the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe pageant held at the Harare International Conference Centre last weekend.
A director with the agency, Tinopona Katsande, who is no stranger to the Zimbabwean showbiz scene, said this year’s show, which is in in its fourth year, has expanded in class, style and ambience and will include a dinner and a performance by acclaimed female jazzist Dudu Manhenga supported by Rudo Musiwacho, a budding R&B and soul artist.
“This year’s show is set to be a cut above all the other previous productions we have held,” she said. “The lingerie range is exquisite, delicate and beautifully arranged and is being provided by Nancy of Indulge Lingerie, the clothes sponsors for this year’s event.”
Katsande said the models will be both male and female because “we realised that it was important to showcase men’s underwear and undergarments too as we take it for granted that men don’t appreciate good fitting, well-tailored and comfortable designer undergarments”.
“We are also being practical in our display range by using our internationally recognised models as well as plus-size models that represent the average woman in our society who understands and appreciates comfortable, well designed and well-tailored undergarments.”
She said proceeds from the event will be donated to the Jairos Jiri Waterfalls Home for the Disabled.
“Jairos Jiri is one of my personal role models as far as setting examples for life and the meaningful legacy it has created . . . and when we saw their plight in a media article a couple of weeks ago, we felt the onus was on us to donate the proceeds from the tickets sales to the home.”
Katsande said the audience will be pampered with perfume, beauty products and gift bags by a leading cosmetics company and bottles of wine.
Impeccable has several major high-end fashion shows set for this year which will benefit specific charities, she said.
