Miss this jazz , miss it for good!
Never are we ever to see again soon a lineup repeat of these top billing jazz crooners under one roof in one city.
All the reason now — and a must — for jazz connoisseurs to buy tickets and experience absolutely fabulous jazz music.
Let us bring back the glory of the good old times when musical festivals would bring the whole of the capital city to a grinding halt and unifying the cosmopolitan with music.
Why should you buy tickets now?
Only 60 tables are left because they are selling so fast we never anticipated such huge interest.
Tickets are selling for US$500 for a group of 10 people on one table. Families, corporates, organisations or friends can buy group tables because there are no individual ticket sales.
The whole idea is to dedicate the festival to the upmarket catchments hence our venue at Harare Sports Club and the group ticket sales.
But, of course, next year we go truly public with plans to take the festival to the masses with shows split across venues across town and selling individual tickets too.
And the price for such a lineup of jazz luminaries is a great bargain that never comes this cheap.
Look, at US$500 for a table of 10 people it works out to be US$50 per person to watch Hugh Masekela (SA), Ladysmith Black Mambazo (SA), Oliver Mtukudzi (Zim), Sibongile Khumalo (SA), Themba Mkize (Zim), The Cool Crooners (Zim), Silvia Manco Quartet (Italy), Mbare Trio (Zim) and Jazz Invitation (Zim).
Now, this is a great deal for sure considering that any one of these icons would ask for at least $25 for one act alone for just two hours! Here there are nine acts and we are talking about a full nine hours of great stuff.
We already have people from Masvingo and Bulawayo buying tickets reflecting the wider interest by audiences converging in Harare for the festival.
Harare Jazz Festival has a table for ticket sales in the Meikles Hotel foyer daily during working hours. As part of the festival and in line with international trends we have side events including a free family show by several jazz artists at the historical Mushandir-apamwe Hotel gardens in Highfield, Harare, on Sunday April 11 and a workshop at The Mannenberg on Tuesday 13 April and Wednesday 14 April for young women in jazz.
Harare Jazz Festival has also adopted Sharon Cohen School for the Disabled Children and will help raise funds for the school throughout the course of the year.
