Zim dance trio live their dream on UK TV
Well, the sungura star has helped send a youthful Zimbabwean dance trio to the second round of the ITV hit show, Britain’s Got Talent.
The Swansea-based brothers who call themselves A3, danced to the Prodigy’s Firestarter, a slew of Michael Jackson tunes and most surprisingly Macheso’s hit Amai VaRubhi.
A capacity crowd rose to its feet after the trio, who live with their mother, performed their one-minute 25 seconds set before celebrity judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden at the final auditions last Saturday.
Arnold (19), Anthony (15) and Amukheani (13) were in tears as Cowell told them that although their routine went a bit flat at the end, he was impressed by their enthusiasm and commitment.
“It started really really well and then it ran out of steam . . . it did,” Cowell said as the youths held their collective breaths, their mother watching on a monitor backstage.
“For an act like this to work,” continued Cowell, “it has to have a beginning, a middle and an end. You have natural talent, but for this to work, you need to work out a proper routine for an audition. On the plus side, you are exceptionally talented!”
Former Daily Mirror editor Morgan added: “I like the fact that you’re three brothers and you’ve worked so hard to get here. You put on a great display and I really enjoyed it, the audience enjoyed it.”
Giving her vote for the trio, Holden told them: “Well, I don’t know why you’re crying because that was brilliant!”
The performance even brought a tear to host Ant McPartlin’s eyes.
Arnold said: “We’ve been dancing ever since we were born. We live at home in Swansea with our mum. We drive her crazy with always practicing at home in the living room.” — newzimbabwe.com
