Guidelines to breakthroughs

God cannot be pinned down to a particular formula in His works but through a careful study of scripture and in my experience in walking with God, I can confidently give the following guidelines to someone in desperate need for a divine breakthrough.
These guidelines are generalised so that they can be safely applied to any problematic situation. Thus, you can use them when you need a breakthrough to attaining good health, solve a financial crisis, get deliverance from a spiritual bondage, find the right marriage partner, take advantage of a business opportunity or resolve any kind of conflict.
I will use the account of the healing of Naaman, the leprous Syrian army commander recorded in 2 Kings 5 to illustrate the stages or progression of these general guidelines to breakthroughs.
The first port of call is obviously the existence of a real and specific problem.
It is of paramount importance that you should first carefully analyse your situation and be able to pinpoint your real need. This sounds to be a platitude — a common thing requiring no mentioning but I will give you this example to show you that sometimes people are not able to define their real problem.
Suppose you are in Avondale and you intend to get into town but you have no bus fare. What is your real problem here — is it lack of money or transport? Most people will tell you their problem is having no five rand for a kombi. But the truth is that their real need is transport and not money because they can walk into town or ask for a free ride from the kindhearted motorists.
Naaman’s real problem was terminal sickness called leprosy. He was a mighty man of valour and highly favoured by the king but leprosy was his nightmare. He needed a revelation of what could be done to get him healed.
The second thing you need after knowing your real problem is a clear revelation of how your problem can be addressed.
Revelation in this case means knowledge of the divine way or means by which your problem can be solved.
Revelation does not always come cheaply. You may need to search the written word for hours or days; sometimes for months or years until find a clear revelation that will definitely address your problem. In other cases you may need to engage yourself in long prayers and long fasts until the Holy Spirit reveals the solution.
Naaman’s revelation of the answer to his problem came easily through a slave girl serving in his house. Watch out, the answer could be in your very house.
After the revelation comes the divine instruction on what you need to do as part of your preparation for the blessed solution. Please understand that God will always require you to participate in the working of your miracle. You do what is humanly possible and he does what is humanly impossible.
This you know through what you are instructed to do either directly by the word of God or by the inspired man or woman of God.
Naaman was instructed to dip himself seven times in the Jordan river by the prophet Elisha. Every little detail of the instruction must be carefully observed and carried out to the letter. No shortcuts.
When you have the instruction, you have no choice but to willingly, promptly and completely obey it without doubt or trying to figure out how things will turn out.
Obedient action in response to divine instruction will bring the desired result or solution. Naaman first resisted the instruction but later on obeyed and was healed and made clean as surely as the revelation had predicted.
Most breakthroughs are aborted because people do not obey the instruction.
