New kid Taku to launch video
With one captivating debut album Dzimwe Nguva to his name, Taku is set to make waves in the music scene. Taku and Tru Bantu will this Friday be performing live at the official launch of his video for the song Chikuru Rudo from Dzimwe Nguva which holds a truly African feel with a global touch, at the Zimbabwe German Society from 6pm.
Drawing inspiration from his deeply rich cultural upbringing, Taku fuses his contemporary sound with Zimbabwe’s traditional vibes such as Mhande, Jiti, Dinhe, Mbende and Katekure to create a unique texture of ethno-contemporary jazz music. His fusion with other global rhythms such as RnB, roots reggae, hip-hop and South African influences such as mbaqanga in some of his musical stops has catapulted him to international exposure and discovery.
Having worked with great contemporaries of the African sound — the likes of the internationally acclaimed and crispy Chiwoniso Maraire, the smooth but late Sam Mtukudzi on the track Rudo which also features Alexio of the Shaina fame — Taku holds a wealthy repertoire.
The golden voice of Willom Tight is to be enjoyed on Musikana wepanext door as Taku teams up with the renowned musician.
The song Chikuru Rudo is as captivating as it is inspiring. The video for the song was shot in Munster, Germany. It was directed by acclaimed international film maker, Yulia Vaitkum from Belarus with further artistic direction by Polish-born Andryej and produced by Solar Net International.
Taku’s work is that of soothing the hurting heart, calming the troubled mind, caressing the exhausted spirit and encouraging the disillusioned soul.
During the launch Taku and Tru Bantu will be supported by some of Zimbabwe’s enticing artists of our time including the soulful Alexio, the golden voice of our nation Willom Tight, Foromani and the most captivating percussionist of our time Sebede.
With solid management behind him under the guidance of prominent Lawyer and prolific administrator Trust Sengwayo, Taku is engaged with many an international and local organisations in his musical journey.
