Think Pink at Eve’s Garden
The menu is just the right size with a good but not overwhelming choice of ideal lunch dishes. Ones that don’t leave you feeling as if you want to sleep all afternoon.
I went there with a farmer friend who chose the creamed chicken salad with strips of chicken coated in a creamy curry sauce and served with litchis and almonds on a bed of garden greens. She said it was really delicious (US$7.
I chose the Bream a l’orange, poached tilapia fillets coated in a low calorie orange sauce and served with mashed potatoes and garden greens. It tasted good but its appearance was a little bland with the cream of the mashed potatoes blending a little too well with the colour of the sauce.
A garnish would have helped. (US$8)
There is a soup of the day at US$5 and a pasta of the day at US$7. Next time I’ll try the Choc Chilli Chicken with Couscous and Garden greens. For those who like a more substantial meal there is a Mushroom Beef Hot Pot, fillet in a thick onion and mushroom gravy with a pastry crust. There is also a Tuna Pie at $8.00.
There are four puddings crêpe Suzettes, fruit kebab, Grecian delight and a fruit cobbler.
There is an imaginative breakfast menu which is served till 11.30 and teatime temptations include carrot and chocolate cakes and muffins of the day with a good selection of coffees, teas, fresh fruit smoothies, vegetable juices and homemade lemon etc.
Eve’s Garden is part of the Centre for Healthy Living and this Saturday, October 9 Well Woman Clinic and The Centre for Healthy Living are holding a Breast Cancer Awareness Fund Raising Pink Morning Tea at Eve’s Garden and all proceeds are to go to the Cancer Association.
Most of us know someone with cancer, and it’s hard to describe what it felt like fourteen years ago when a wonderful woman from the Cancer Association convinced me that I wasn’t going to die there and then from breast cancer.
They helped with so many practical problems and answered so many questions with patience, love and understanding and their premises on the corner of 6th Street and Livingstone Avenue became a refuge.
They rely entirely on donations and ticket details for this event with four interesting speakers are below.
The Well Woman Clinic, as part of their early detection campaign are offering their cash patients a discount on mammograms for the month of October.
Eve’s Garden is a lot more than a restaurant though.
In the other part of the building Dr Summeyia Omar has her rooms, she’s an integrated medical practitioner.
Also there are dieticians Liz Small and Debbie Lindsay and Emma dos Santos a reflexologist. Also on offer is 7,5 blood analysis by Liz Howden.
Magda Tavener is a beautician and Debbie Dickens does colonic hydrotherapy.
There is also an exercise marquee where they have a circuit and also offer classes in yoga, Pilates, body fitness and zumba.
