Kudzai Sevenzo has new album

The 12-track album is her second project so far after the highly acclaimed debut album “On a Day like This”. A number of tracks on the new release are a collaboration between Kudzai and other musicians such as Oliver Mtukudzi on the track “Pole Pole”.
Kudzai describes the new album as of “high quality, diverse, rich and fresh new sound”. The track “Child of Afrika” urges people to celebrate who they are no matter where they are.
“The album is afro-centric, has a strong jazz influence with a few surprises which I love,” says Kudzai.
She says she wanted the album “to be personal — to cover situations that we have all experienced. I also wanted the album to show how much I have grown, not only as an artiste, but as a songwriter too”.
The album was written, recorded and produced entirely in Zimbabwe.
Kudzai plunged into the limelight after auditioning for M-Net’s reality musical TV show, Project Fame, in 2005. After falling in the penultimate round, she released her first album which was nominated for a Zimbabwe Music Awards. She, however, won the Celebration award for Best New Artist and the Nescafe Most Inspiring Female artiste for 2005.
Besides “Child of Afrika”, listeners will find the track “Freedom Train” more lively and danceable.
