Aleksander Ceferin named new UEFA president
EUROPEAN football’s governing body UEFA have elected Aleksander Ceferin as their new president at a conference in Athens.
Ceferin, head of the Football Association of Slovenia, received 42 votes – Dutchman Michael van Praag garnered only 13.
The 48-year-old Ceferin succeeds Michel Platini, with former France player having resigned after being banned from all football activity last year.
Ceferin is expected to see out the remainder of Platini’s term of office which stretches until 2019. Kickoff.com
