Black Bird flies against the odds

Tha Rappetizer, an eight-track rendition of hip-hop tunes, is the 26-year-old’s first ushering though she has been in the business for some time now.
According to Black Bird, The Rappetizer is a rap album that merges both underground and commercial styles of hip-hop into an emotionally rich and energy filled project.
“While it is definitely a personal album, The Rappetizer also goes into social commentary and talks about issues everyone can relate to . . ., said black Bird.
She added: “The popular, yet controversial Black Man track addresses failed relationships and highlights the reality of a generation full of fatherless children. The track encourages men to support their children financially, physically and emotionally.”
She has worked with the likes of legendary guitarist, Andy Brown, and with Take 5 of the Chamhembe fame and with South African
groups and hip-hop producers such as Hoodlum.
For past few months, Black Bird’s music has been receiving considerable airplay on the youthful radio station, Power FM, and has topped Zimbabwe hip-hop charts on the Hip-Hop Update Show. Her two tracks — Oooh and Dollar Rand Naira — were her two songs that took turns on top of the local hip-hop charts.
All tracks on the album were written and performed by Black Bird. All but two tracks were recorded at the Mix Masterz Studios. Her album is now available on the market.
