AFFIRMATIVE Action Group (AAG) says it has confidence in President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his two vice presidents Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi’s ability to deliver and turnaround the economy.

The advocacy group said it believes that through the leadership of President Mnangagwa and riding on the wave of the new dispensation, government would come up with policies that would empower people economically.

AAG says the new presidium has shown that it has the “capacity to create new opportunities for economic growth by opening the economy to international investors while ensuring that the resultant growth is not achieved by further marginalization of its citizens.”

President Mnangagwa this week swore-in his two Vice Presidents whom AAG said understood the needs of the people.

“On behalf of the Affirmative action movement in Zimbabwe, the leadership of Affirmative Action Group and its entire membership would like to warmly congratulate General Dr Constantino Guvheya Chiwenga and Honourable Kembo Mohadi for their appointment to the position of Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe respectively,” AAG President Chamu Chiwanza said.

“The Vice Presidents have illustriously served Zimbabwe in a distinguished and highly commendable way before and after our independence in 1980. They participated in the development of a free and democratic state of Zimbabwe and truly understand the needs and aspirations of the people of Zimbabwe,” he said.

AAG said having served in their previous assignments with distinction and unfailing service to the nation of Zimbabwe, they would offer the presidium unconditional support in their new role.

“We pledge to support all government efforts and policies that unavoidably commit them to intervene in the removal of social and economic disparities that unless dealt with, might continue to be the source of marginalization, unemployment and poverty,” Chiwanza said.

AAG said President Mnangagwa had in less than a month demonstrated that economic revival was possible if the people of Zimbabwe unite for the single purpose of building Zimbabwe through hard work and shying away from destructive tendencies.

“The Affirmative Action Group would like to assure His Excellency of their support of Government in all its current initiatives aimed at reviving the economy and providing a foundation for long term economic growth,” he said.

Since he became President of Zimbabwe, AAG said Mnangagwa had raised hopes of the nation to unprecedented heights and had given many Zimbabweans based locally and abroad confidence.

“As an advocacy group for economic empowerment, we reaffirm our belief in that lack of access to resources, be they natural, material, technological and financial, remains a serious hinderance to the establishment and development of a strong indigenous entrepreneurial class,” Chiwanza said.
