Ronaldo had gone 659 minutes without scoring in Europe.

REAL Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo insists none of his fans have ever doubted his ability following his brace against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Ronaldo scored twice at the Allianz Arena to help Los Merengues come back from a goal down to beat Die Roten 2-1 in the first leg of their Champions League tie.

Before scoring his first goal of the night, Ronaldo had gone 659 minutes without scoring in Europe, but he insisted he was unaware of any doubters.

“I don’t know who doubted me,” Ronaldo told BeIn Sports. “The people who love Cristiano never had any doubts. You’d have to tell me who kept doubting as it never reached me.

“I am very happy,” he added. “The team reacted very well, it is not easy to play here, against a very difficult team. Even losing at the break, we had a good feeling for the second half.

“We played very well, we scored early and the game became easier. The victory is deserved although it leaves things very open for the return game.”

Meanwhile, Real coach Zinedine Zidane praised Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer for his display.

“It is not easy to play here, Bayern have great players and are a great team, but we still needed to play well in the second half. We were against a goalkeeper who is a wall,” Zidane was quoted by Eurosport.

“A tie is never decided in the first leg, but we played a good match. We probably could have scored one or two more goals, but we’re very happy.” – kickoff.com
