Eviction
In an interview, Ronah said she was surprised that Chikwata did not ask for permission for her relatives to squat in the building for close to 10 years free of charge.
A visibly annoyed Ronah said Chikwata’ s relatives should have sought permission from her to stay in the house. “I would not have forcibly evicted them had the requested for permission to stay in the family building,” said Ronah who initially was hesitant to talk to the press.
But when contacted Chikwata said it was unfortunate that her relatives were evicted without giving them a warning notice adding it was the most embarrassing thing to happen to her.
In an telephone interview Chikwata said she was not bitter about the development except that “it should have been done in a more civilized manner especially that she was tasked to take care of the building by the Mwanawasa family.
“The only thing I am embarrassed about is the way my relatives have been forcibly evicted without giving them enough time to vacant the building,” complained Chikwata.
The building set in the market area was a turned into a tavern with all sorts of illicit activities taking place there.
