God causes us to triumph

(Resolving Personal and Spritual Conflicts)

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory — making us conquerors —   through our Lord Jesus Christ.JESUS ON THE CROSSHappy New Year! But there is something which seems to make this year an unhappy one. Almost every prophetic voice and public voice is filled with the evil tidings that this year will be bleak. And when you hear more news of failure among pastors, of industry and company closures, retrenchments, and of worsening liquidity crunch in the nation, you may end up thinking that the devil has the upper hand over Christ. But contrary to what circumstances dictate to us, it is possible for a believer in Christ to live victoriously over life’s changeful circumstances. This possibility comes wrapped up in God’s grace.

1Corinthians 15:57 reads, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory — making us conquerors — through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  This statement victory is relevant, and a great source of comfort and encouragement in our present situations. Put in my own words, ‘we thank God right now because through Christ we can have victory every day over every negative circumstance facing us as individuals and as a nation.’  You see, triumph does not come where there is no fight. You can only use words like conquerors and victory to signify winning in battle situations.

Because God causes us to triumph and is the one who fights our battles we must dare to believe that   s we can enjoy victory over sickness and disease, financial handicaps, marital strife, poverty and lack, discouragement and depression this year. Yes, God may have allowed us to go through trying times. But He has not given us over to death. His grace is sufficient for us this year.  Our weakness is an opportunity for God to display His perfect divine strength.

Instead of seeing defeat, dare to begin to see daily victory. Believe that since God is with you, in you and for you, victory is guaranteed you because God and you form a winning team.
This is good news that God gives us the victory and makes us conquerors. Did you hear that? God causes us to triumph. Not that we attain victory on our own. Not that we fight in our own strength. It is by God’s grace that we live and walk in victory. We have victory not because of our own ability to fight but because of God’s grace.

You need to know what grace does. It supplants our human weakness with God’s strength. But for this divine exchange to happen, you must be in Christ.
If you are not in Christ, grace cannot cover you. Grace is only for those who are in Christ. This is so because the acronym GRACE stands for God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense.
