God’s chosen vessels
He manifested throughout his whole career fitness for the master’s use and it was no wonder when he was subsequently chosen by the Holy Ghost for the high honour of the missionary commission. But Paul’s past was a basket case. Before his coversion, Saul was mistaken with regard to Christ, even to the point of violent hostility to Christ claims and to His people.
However, is it not comforting to know that Paul was later on chosen and ranked together with Barnabas for God’s service? Not only that, for in the end their address changed from Barnabas and Paul to Paul and Barnabas signifying Paul’s greater prominence in dedication to God’s service. If He took Paul from a scarred and marred past to stardom in His service, He can do the same with you today.
Ananias initially refused to go and minister God’s word to Paul citing his past imperfections and evil doings but God commanded him to ‘go your way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me.’ Rouse yourself up and take charge of God’s work for it is the Father’s pleasure to give you the kingdom. You are God’s chosen vessel for today. His requirement is simply that you cultivate fitness in lifestyle and character. People may shun you at first but God will send a Barnabas who will become sponsor for you among those who look upon you with suspicion. Eventually, the results of your service will authenticate your conversion, and ‘chosenness’.
