Happy feet
And it’s probably up to you to make good foot care a family thing.
On the whole, men don’t pay as much attention to their own foot care as women do. But that’s not to say they shouldn’t. Apart from using nail clippers, most men don’t own their own set of pedicure tools. But it seems these days that men are opting for the occasional professional pedicure more than ever before.
The rules for foot care are the same for men as they are for woman: Cleanse, file, exfoliate and moisturise. Foot care should be a family thing. Family foot care is an important part of a personal hygiene routine that will ensure your family enjoy good foot health for the rest of their lives.

Foot health is important, and when summer arrives there is no point trying to bury your feet in socks, sneakers or pumps. And when winter comes again, your feet will thank you for taking good care of them. Of course there are those of you who absolutely hate your feet. The shape, the bumps, long toes, short toes, hard heals, rough skin, too big, too thin, too wide.
Everybody else has nicer feet. Well yes, that could be true, but all is not lost. We are dedicated to making your feet spectacular. And to remind you how important foot care is to your entire well-being. So, peel off those sport socks and get started with some quality foot care products — your feet are worth the foot care you give them. Beauty is about your overall grooming from tip to toe.
So having beautiful feet is as important as a beautiful face. However, in our daily beauty care, feet are generally the most neglected part. Like other body parts it deserves daily care and pampering to keep them healthy and beautiful. Did you know that most foot health problems are a direct result of squeezing into bad fitting shoes? Bumps, bunions and calluses can be removed professionally along with that annoying, hard skin.
Some helpful hints
-Keep your nails short and straight.
-The right pedicure tools will give you a professional look and help you avoid problems such as ingrown toenails.
-Never cut cuticles, just treat them with a cuticle remover cream.
-Use a soft nail brush to clean under the tips of the nails to remove dirt and bacteria each evening.
-Dry your feet carefully after bathing. Damp skin in between the toes can lead to problems.
-Small bumps can be treated at home, as can corns and blisters — but use the right product. Don’t think a pair of scissors cures everything, you may end up damaging delicate skin.
-Good foot health is for life.
-Remember your feet are an essential part of your overall well-being.
The best home pedicure advice
The best pedicures are those that include lower leg and foot exfoliation and massage that result in total foot beauty. The ones that leave your feet tingling and soft to walk on.
A weekly professional beauty pedicure is a luxury and if you can afford it, do it. If not then join the rest of us by creating an at-home foot beauty routine which should include giving yourself a Sunday-night home pedicure instead.
Let’s face it — time, money, and plain old will-power is enough to stop us getting a professional pedicure. And yet there is nothing nicer than sitting back and enjoying a foot treatment. Instead, put aside some time one evening for an easy and relaxing home pedicure: Wash feet and scrub toe nails with warm, mild soapy water. Massage an exfoliator into the skin. Rinse. Use a foot file on the soles of your feet and heels to remove dry skin. Use the gentle, less abrasive side to carefully go over any bumps on your toes that need softening. Apply cuticle remover. Leave for a few minutes and gently push back cuticles with an orange stick. Rinse and pat dry. If you have specific problems to target use your nail tools properly according to the instructions to remove hard or dead skin, file or clean.
Use a toe separator cushion to give toes apart while applying polish. Apply base coat to protect), colour, and top coat (for high shine and professional finish), waiting in between each coat for it to dry. When polish is just dry to the touch, apply a tiny drop of oil— baby oil or olive oil is fine — massage into the cuticles lightly and you will have a perfectly dry manicure very quickly — the oil protects the polish hard much better than any quick-dry spray you may think you need.
(If you are having a salon pedicure, take your own nail polish, you then have the exact colour at home for easy touch-ups).
Remember, try to avoid soaking your feet in hot water the day after a pedicure. Hot water makes your freshly applied polish peel more easily. Massage our Clarins Foot Beauty Treatment Cream which soothes and comforts tired feet with dry skin thanks to plant extracts : Cashew Nut, Shea Butter, Arnica, Myrrh and Thyme. A rich, non-oily cream that absorbs easily to restore soft suppleness to feet with dry skin. Soothes and comforts tired feet. Protects beautiful feet from ankle to toe. This cream will be available at all of our outlets in January 2011.
When you do use nail varnish as part of your foot beauty routine, always use a base coat under your varnish so your nails don’t turn yellow. Using a pail colour in the summer will also be healthier for your natural nail colour — and shimmering pinks, peaches and cream give toe nails a healthier glow than darker colours. But try to give your toe nails a break from wearing polish all the time, and let the natural sunlight get them. Finish off your pedicure by buffing your nails instead to give them a natural glow – they will be a healthier colour and grow quicker when given a well earned rest from polish occasionally.
These little daily cares will leave your feet healthy and beautiful!
