If you are in doubt, don’t!

The Christmas festive season has come. It is a time of joy, sharing our goodies and giving thanks to the awesome Lord Jesus who became flesh in order to save us from our sins.
However, just as the police are warning road users about over speeding caused by drunken drivers and over-excited passengers, I would also like to caution believers to observe moderation and restraint in their merriment. Prevention is better than cure and to stay healthy is better than to get healed.
An inspired Bible commentator on the opening chapter of the book of Job said, “Times of festivity are always full of temptation. Loins are relaxed and the girdle of the soul is loosed. Amid the general hilarity and the passing of the merry joke words are said and thoughts permitted which are not always consistent with the character of God, His glorious kingdom and service. Job was therefore not wrong in interceding for children.”
Job’s intercession for his children who were out of his reach during their times of feasting sets a good example for all godly parents today. Your children may be out of your sight and reach in this festive season but your faith and prayer can move the arm of God on their behalf. But young Christians should also take responsibility for their action s and words. My advice to you is that if you are in doubt of any move, please do not take it.
As Christians both old and young we enjoy a dual existence. Spiritually, we are seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus but we also live in this natural world. And because the sphere of our life lies necessary in this physical world, it is necessary for us to move in society and to attend festive gatherings. But when we visit places of recreation and pleasure we should be more than ever careful to stay on guard and by previous meditation and prayer prepare ourselves for the inevitable temptation. When it is all over and the lights are down we should quietly review our words and actions under the searchlight that streams from the word of God and the intimations of the Holy Spirit. In some instances we will be made aware of frivolous or uncharitable words of jealousy because others have outshone us.
In other instances, the pride of life caused by the splendor of our dress or car and the brilliance of our talk will be revealed to our minds after the feasts. Please urgently resolve these sins through sincere confession and obtain forgiveness and restoration.
Whatever you do and wherever you go this festive season please do not allow sin to reign in your body. If sin reigns in your body it kills the life of Jesus Christ in you that you are celebrating. But if you submit your body to God as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him then you will be in a position to successfully resist the allurements of temptation.
Remember your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, you are carrying treasure in your earthen body.
If you are a person who struggles with habitual sexual sins like watching pornography, masturbation and sexual promiscuity make sure you avoid places and activities that heighten the desire to indulge in these fleshly tendencies.
Also avoid involvement in satanic and demonic rituals whether actively or passively because transference of demon spirits is at its peak during festive seasons. Some festive ceremonies and rituals seem innocent in appearance but they have far-reaching spiritual and moral consequences. Some believers’ conflicts are difficult to resolve because they entered into covenants with satanic spirits during times of festivity and moments of intoxication. If you have to explain yourself afterwards or your conscience is protesting against your moves, take heed you may cry later.
Finally, dear brethren do not just accept favours, sacrifices and money from people against your conscience because these things may be done to make you an easy prey. It is not profitable to increase in spiritual strength and glory during the first 10 days of the year when most Christians fast and pray only to lose the glory during fleeting moments of festivity. ‘If you are in doubt, don’t’  is a far much better  remedy than  all conflict resolution strategies.
