Jah Prayzah takes Tsviriyo to SA

Jah Prayzah aContemporary musician Jah Prayzah (pictured) born Mukudzei Mukombe is elated to be sharing the stage with Chimurenga music icon Thomas Mapfumo next month in South Africa. Speaking to the Financial Gazette, the musician’s manager, Filda Muchabaiwa, said the artist was happy to be part of the show with the veteran musician.

“We are very exultant to have been awarded such an opportunity which is a great moment and an honour for Jah Prayzah in his music career,” Muchabaiwa said.

“We are going to utilise this opportunity to market our brand internationally.”

At the same gig, Jah Prayzah is also billed to share the stage with a South African pop group called Uhuru. The event, organised and sponsored by Silent Killer, will be held on April 25 to 27.

Jah Prayzah’s first show will be in Cape Town at Chary’s Kitchen on April 25. The following day they will perform at the Standard Bank Arena before ending the tour in Mussina on April 27 at Mussina Show Grounds.The Murewa-born musician is proving to be the man of the moment on the local showbiz.

Last month the Tsviriyo hit maker was the biggest winner at this year’s 13th edition of the National Arts Merit Awards (Nama) that were held in Bulawayo, bagging four gongs. He scooped awards for the Outstanding Male Artiste, Outstanding Song, Outstanding Album as well as the People’s Choice Award.

Recently he shared the stage with Congolese rhumba star Antoine Christopher Agbepa Mumba, popularly known as Koffi Olomide, at Bona Mugabe and Simba Chikore’s wedding. Meanwhile, this is not the only time for Mapfumo who left the country nine years ago and is now based in Oregon in the United States of America to share a stage with a fellow Zimbabwean musician.

Last year, he shared the stage with Nox real name Enock Guni in the United Kingdom where Mapfumo was launching  World on Fire an album that looks at serious problems affecting the world.
