Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James

RICHARD Jefferson and Channing Frye have become overnight podcast sensations. Their interview series has become so successful that Uninterrupted, a digital media company owned by LeBron James and Maverick Carter, has signed the podcast to join their network.

To celebrate the occasion, the duo along with host Allie Clifton, interviewed LeBron James to discuss life uninterrupted. So many interesting things were revealed throughout the show.

LeBron started his media company because he was tired of soundbites:

“I came to (Carter) one day, and I said I’m tired of my words being chopped and diced and put out and then you only see — you know, I’ve talked for 20 minutes, and then they only show the headlines. So I was like I’m tired of that. I’m tired of doing that and I’m tired of people thinking or perception is everything especially in our sport. People see a headline on social media and automatically assume this is what you were talking about.”

LeBron loves cartoons:

“My favorite cartoon growing up was probably Pink Panther and Tom and Jerry. Those were my favorite growing up. I watch Tom and Jerry every single day and also you know who I love too was Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner. I was a Looney Toons guy and as much as I loved all the other characters from obviously Bugs obviously Daffy (Duck) and all those other ones but I was always fascinated with the Wile E. Coyote trying to figure out how to catch the Road Runner.”

LeBron has the most interesting analysis about why Wile E. Coyote never caught the Road Runner:

“As hard as he was trying, if he would’ve just simplified some things he would’ve. … I mean it was always so funny, he has the greatest Acme bag of grenades or the greatest Acme bag of rocket launchers and then it was like if you just go grab him he’s right there. He tried to light it and it blows up in his face. I was always fascinated with that.”

LeBron on today’s cartoons:

“My favorite cartoons today would be like — I love SpongeBob SquarePants. It’s hilarious to me. Teen Titans. I love Teen Titans. There’s a couple more.”

LeBron on acceptable Halloween costumes:

“I’m going to be honest, where I grew up, you was not allowed to be a Blue Ranger. They would be the (expletive) out of you because where I grew up it was like … You could be Jason Voorhees, you could be Michael Myers, you could be Freddy Krueger. You gotta be some real (expletive). You can’t show up as a Blue Ranger. They’re gonna beat the (expletive) out of you and take your little outfit off. You show up as a Blue Ranger, it’s over for you.”

LeBron on TV shows and movies that made him cry:

“I cried on Lion King. I cried on Lion King man. … Scar that bastard. When he killed Mufasa man, I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe it man I cried watching that movie. … There’s actually a TV show (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, when Will’s father neglects him) I cry everytime I see this scene. Every single time that episode comes on — every single time I shed a tear. It’s like — and it could come from like obviously just me being in a single parent household and never seeing my father and things growing up when I was a kid — but it’s just an emotional part.”

LeBron has a bunch of celebrity crushes:

“By the way, Eva Mendes is one of my favorite women of all time. My wife knows it. … There’s three Jennifers, I love Jennifers. I’m a Jennifer Aniston guy, a Jennifer Lawrence guy. … Jennifer Lopez, those are my three Jennifers that I love and then it’s Scarlett Johansen and it’s Eva Mendes.”

LeBron also has admiration for Jessica Biel:

“Jessica Biel is unbelievable. JT, you my man, we talk all the time, man, you got an unbelievable wife, man. Congratulations to you. You know that. They belong together.”

If LeBron could take any CD with him to a deserted island:

“It would be between Off the Wall, Michael Jackson, which is like my favorite Michael Jackson CD, or Jay-Z, Blueprint which is phenomenal.”

There were so many other revealing tidbits listeners learned in this amazing podcast which even included a Kyrie Irving cameo. Jefferson says that LeBron’s Uninterrupted team is considering other iterations of the Road Trippin’ podcast for other teams and other sports. – ftw.usatoday.com
