This unique partnership allows Liquid Telecom to leverage its existing expertise in managed services, telecoms and local data centre operations within the region

LIQUID Telecom, Africa’s leading, quality fibre network provider has teamed with Code 42 to provide a world-class endpoint data protection and management solution for Africa- CrashPlan Africa.
Code 42 which is headquartered in America is the world’s leading backup and restore provider that deliverssecure, integrated file sharing and backup at work, at home and everywhere in-between. The company’s award-winning products have become the gold standard for enterprise, trusted by the most recognized brands in business and education.
By partnering with Code 42, Liquid Telecom sought to get the expertise and experience of the world’s leading backup and restore provider taking advantage of its footprint in 14 African countries to offer its customers enhanced value-added cloud services. This unique partnership allows Liquid Telecom to leverage its existing expertise in managed services, telecoms and local data centre operations within the region, whilst combining these capabilities with Code42’s EDGE Platform technology.
The launch, being held today in Zimbabwe, is the first of many to be rolled out across Central and Southern Africa from June onwards. Liquid Telecom’s super-fast, quality fibre network will host CrashPlan Africa – the world’s leading, silent, continuous, end-point back-up and restore service.
With over 50 percent of a company’s data normally residing outside their data centre, CrashPlan Africa provides business with the solution to the problem of end point devices being damaged, stolen, lost or sabotaged. In such instances, recovery can be high cost or even terminal. CrashPlan Africa has been designed to move data simply and efficiently to new devices without having to rely on IT. Crashplan provides protection and un-compromised security leveraging on Liquid Telecom’s state-of-the-art data centres.
The service is deployed on-premise, or anywhere via hybrid cloud. Data is stored centrally, so all users, whether in or outside of the office can access restored data wherever they maybe and at any time. Liquid has created a pan-African high speed, highly resilient network of “on net” storage nodes.
These are housed in Liquid’s telecom secure data centres and connected to key international exchange points including Johannesburg, Harare, Nairobi and Lagos. All data stored on these nodes is encrypted during transit and at rest- allowing you to keep the encryption keys, making it impossible for unauthorized access. As with all Liquid products; efficient, fast support is available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year.
At the breakfast launch of CrashPlan Africa in Zimbabwe, Wellington Makamure, the MD for Liquid Telecom Zimbabwe said, “Enterprises need help to protect & manage Endpoint Data. The consumerisation of IT and pervasiveness of mobile devices has meant that CIOs are losing control and visibility of the information created and accessed by staff using a range of mobile devices including laptops, iOS and Android devices”.
Guest speaker at the breakfast meeting, Andy Harding, Managing Director for EMEA at Code 42 said: “The service, run outside of Africa since 2008, known as CrashPlan, with over 35,000 clients, has been protecting end point data for some of the world’s largest enterprises. These include international giants such as Adobe, TaylorMade, Expedia, Stanford University, Getty Images and National Geographic, to name but a few.’’
Now, due to Liquid’s Africa’s partnership with Code 42, this world-class service will be available in Zimbabwe for the benefit of our business and enterprise customers who are looking for secure, enterprise-grade file sync/share solutions.
Alongside CrashPlan Africa, is SharePlan Africa, a service that can be used by every employee to provide secure enterprise grade sync and share. The SharePlan Africa single console management process keeps everything simple, providing top level visibility of what is being shared, thus ensuring protection for your business and keeping your staff working.
Both CrashPlan Africa and SharePlan Africa are available for purchase to Zimbabwe users from Liquid Telecom and ZOL Zimbabwe.
