Microsoft’s Activision takeover blocked in UK

The Competition and Markets authority has blocked Microsoft’s proposed $68.7bn (£55m) plan to buy video game company Activision Blizzard in the UK.

The body said it’s concerned the deal would offer reduced innovation and less choice for gamers when it comes to the fast-growing cloud gaming business.

The CMA was not concerned that the deal would distort competition in the console gaming market.

Microsoft said it would appeal against the decision. – bbc.com
