Music Crossroads, Music Factory in sponsorship deal
Under the deal, The Music Factory will sponsor prizes for provincial competitions as well as national competitions.
The first and second-placed groups at each stage of the competition will get prizes that include branded guitar straps, drum kit covers, drum stick bags and guitar bags.
The company currently intends to distribute its products through retailers of musical instruments and is busy exploring the potential to export to regional and international markets.
“Music Crossroads is a viable youth empowerment vehicle that deserves support and investment from the corporate sector and other stakeholders,” said Carl Wilson, The Music Factory managing director.
“By investing in these kinds of initiatives, local companies can assist the musical talent of Zimbabwe to gain the much-needed support in gaining exposure to the regional and international music market,” he said.
Music Crossroads executive director, Mathias Bangure, said they have been in operation for the past 12 years without local sponsorship.
“We are grateful to The Music Factory for taking the lead in investing in our organisation. This is truly a ground breaking deal for us.”
Music Crossroads seeks to improve the livelihoods of youths in the region through a unique music programme which creates opportunities for young people to develop musically through a series of workshops whose content includes voice training, band and stage management, marketing, copyright law, advertising, instrument use (playing and maintenance) and HIV and Aids. — Own Correspondent.
