Oppein Group optimistic about Zimbabwe market
HIGH-end custom cabinet maker Oppein Group says its local operations are progressing well in just two years after entering the country underpinned by a surge in demand for luxury furnishings.
In 2022, Oppein Group, opened its first showroom under a local franchise – Oppein Home at Sam Levy’s Village Shopping Mall in the upscale suburb of Borrowdale, Harare.
Tim Sheng, Oppein Group global director, told the media this week that its Zimbabwean arm recorded remarkable growth since inception.
“I think we are developing very fast. We have only been working together for two years, but our results are outstanding,” he said.
“So in all of Africa, Zimbabwe has the best results. We hope that in the future, it will continue to grow and to progress.”
With operations in over 100 countries and thousands of franchise showrooms globally, Oppein provides a wide range of products and services, including custom kitchen cabinets, home decor accessories, and comprehensive home customization.
The company also deals in furniture retail, wholesale home appliances, and interior design.
Zimbabwe’s economic growth has been marred by inflation, currency fluctuations, and a struggling manufacturing sector. The country’s recent devaluation of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency raised eyebrows, sparking concerns about economic instability.
Despite Zimbabwe’s challenging economic challenges, the demand for luxury home furnishings is on the rise. This surge is driven by the construction of mansions and property renovations in affluent areas of Harare and other urban centers, fueling the desire for high-end finishes.
