Pah Chihera,Tuku date Mzansi

Pah ChiheraFRESH from her successful month-long maiden international tour of Dubai last week, rising local Afro-jazz musician, Pah Chihera (Pamhidzai Tracy Mbirimi) will on May 3 share the stage with super star Oliver Mtukudzi at Zula Sound Bar in Cape Town, South Africa.

The one-day concert dubbed Oliver Mtukudzi Trio Live in Cape Town will feature South African DJs like DJ Wilson, DJ Luvchild, Bernadette, DJ Oats among others who will be rocking it on the turntables. The Runonzi Rudo singer, who is proving to be a force to reckon with in the local arts industry, said she is ready to serenade her South African fans.

“I am happy to be performing for my fans in South Africa. I promise to deliver a polished act,” said Pah Chihera.

“Sharing stage with my role model (Tuku) will forever be patched in my mind and is something that makes any artist proud.”

Last year she toured Malawi where she performed at the Sun Bird Sand Music Festival sharing the stage with the likes of Big Nuz of SA, among other top African groups. Pah Chihera launched her career as a backing vocalist for her uncle Kudakwashe Prince Musarurwa, who also featured in most of her tracks before going solo.She is riding high with her debut six track album Runonzi Rudo.  Most of her songs carry themed messages on marriages and some African customs.

“I am really humbled with the warm responses I am getting both locally and internationally since I released my debut album,” she said.

Her soulful music has rocked the airwaves winning hearts of the many especially the title track of the album Runonzi Rudo which promotes pure love regardless of social status or material things. The song has becoming a national anthem across all generations.

Some of the songs doing well on the album are Murume Wangu which describes a defiant woman who fights for her marriage, despite her abusive and cunning in-laws.
Musavadadire Varume encourages women to be respectful and Musaite Mhere-mhere which is a plea to family members to desist from engaging in violent feuds.  – Nkosana Zulu
