Sores of Emmanuel to premiere soon

The film focuses on the socio-economic problems faced by men in raising their children as single parents. Producer of the film, Charles Mutyavaviri, who is still new to the production industry, said that Sores of Emmanuel was his first major film.
The film addresses the culture of single parents from the father’s point of view. He said that so much had been written about females as single parents whilst problems men encounter have been ignored.
“Our main aim was to encourage fathers to be committed to their families because in our culture men are always portrayed as careless whilst women are resilient and confident in caring for their families,” Mutyavaviri said.
The film casts a lot of prominent actors like, Edmore Sandifolo popularly known as Chabvonga in Tiriparwendo, Charity Dlodlo and Tonderai Chiyindiko of Studio 263. It also casts first timers like news anchor, Marion Shaba and two grade seven pupils at Diggleford School in Marondera, Ryan Tanatswa and Stella Kazingizi.
Mutyavaviri said the production is putting final touches to the movie which is set to premiere in April.
The film revolves around the life of Emmanuel Mutema, played by Sandifolo. He is a single father of three boys who is struggling to fend for them. Emmanuel then discovers diamonds which seem to end his problems but things get worse. The soundtrack of the film features musicians like Prudence Katomeni, Stunner, Mafriq, Tembelami and Carol Utawunashe among others.
Scriptwriter and director of the film, Edmore Ndhlovu, said they faced a number of challenges in coming out with the film.
“We wanted to come up with a film which was powerful to motivate the audience so it took time to construct the script and we also experienced financial difficulties.
He said they were working on a number of projects for television both locally and regionally.
“This film is different from all other films because it does not focus on HIV and Aids like all others. It looks into social and economic situations,” he said.
