Theatre in the Park brews a scorcher
The play is called “Dependence” and focuses on the dysfunctionality of the extended family. Issues of diaspora relationships and other related matters come to the fore in a style that is distinctly vintage Chifunyise.
Produced and directed by veteran producer-cum-actor Daves Guzha, “Dependence” features a cast that comprises prominent Studio 263 actor Hilary Indi, former Studio 263 and Small House Saga actresses Chipo Bizure and Evangelista Mwatse, as well as Winnie Moyo and Dereck Nziyakwi. All the artists have featured in other productions, but upcoming actress, Tafadzwa Mugazambi, makes her theatrical debut.
Dependence centers on Mrs Murandu (Chipo Bizure), a cross border trader and the dramatic events that take place in her family of four children, Ben (Hilary Indi), Janet (Evangelista Mwatse), Maria (Tafadzwa Mugazambi) and Angela (Winnie Moyo).
Dependence is the first of many exciting Rooftop productions scheduled for release this year. It premiered on March 24 and is open to the public from March 25 to April 11.
