Arturo Vidal breaks silence on FC Barcelona unhappiness and alleged Ernesto Valverde fallout

Arturo Vidal happy alleged Ernesto Valverde

FC Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal has finally broken silence on his ‘frustrating’ bench role since his off-season arrival from Bayern Munich.

The Chilean, speaking with his national team in Miami, had put up an angry emoji on social media after playing only three minutes against Tottenham after being afforded five minutes against PSV Eindhoven. In LaLiga, manager Ernesto Valverde has started the 31-year-old twice, but on both occasions, substituted the Chilean before the hour mark.

And after the social media ‘angry emoji’ incident, he was once again left outside the starting lineup on Sunday away to Valencia.

The former Bayern man acknowledges his frustration overt the bit-part role but refuted claims of a fallout with his manager.

“I am not happy but if I have a problem with the coach I will say it to his face,” Vidal said, as quoted by Marca.

“How am I going to be happy if I don’t play and me of all people. I am someone that has always fought, that has been in the best teams in the world, that has won everything and who wants to continue winning at Barcelona.

“I am fine physically and happy. In the past few games I have been a little irritated but that’s how it is, we will keep battling, there are a lot of important games ahead and we will see.” – bbc.com
