The 21-year-old pop star was ordered to pay a $750 (£390) fine for the careless driving charge

JUSTIN Bieber has pleaded guilty to assault and careless driving in connection with a collision with paparazzi near his hometown in Canada.

The 21-year-old pop star was ordered to pay a $750 (£390) fine for the careless driving charge, but a more serious charge of dangerous driving was withdrawn.

Bieber received an absolute discharge for the assault, meaning he was found guilty but no conviction will show up on his record.

The crash took place in September last year near Stratford, Ontario, where Bieber was visiting family with his girlfriend Selena Gomez.

The couple had been on a “quiet retreat” at the time when they were “unfortunately disrupted by the unwelcome presence of paparazzi”, Bieber’s lawyer had said.
Bieber was accused of ramming his All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) into a minivan driven by a photographer and then getting into a “physical altercation” with the driver, according to police.

Local media said Bieber and Gomez had been taking turns driving the ATV while the other sat on the back.

Bieber has had a string of run-ins with the law in several countries, including for drag racing and throwing eggs at a neighbour’s home. SkyNews.com
