Wale’s talisman Gareth Bale

WALE’S talisman has scored in each of his side’s three group games in France, breaking his country’s record for most goals at major tournaments as well as doing so in quick time

Gareth Bale continues to be at the heart of a triumphant return to tournament football for Wales.

After netting against Slovakia and England in his side’s first two games at Euro 2016, the Real Madrid forward turned in the third goal as Chris Coleman’s men saw off Russia 3-0 to finish at the top of Group B on Monday.

In doing so, Bale broke a 58-year-old record as he ended Ivor Allchurch’s reign as his country’s highest goalscorer at major finals.

Not only is Bale making history for his country but his incredible start to the tournament sees him in good company. Scoring in every group game is no mean feat – and nobody at either of the last two European Championships had done so.

Bale’s prolific start to the 2016 finals is something that we have not seen since Milan Baros of the Czech Republic and Netherlands’ Ruud van Nistelrooy scored in each of their first three games at Euro 2004.- goal.com
